Hailed by Rudyard Kipling as "the eighth wonder of the world," the breathtaking Milford Sound is the star of glacier-carved Fjordland National Park, providing an emerald-green and waterfall-rich backdrop for hiking, biking and kayaking. Frequent downpours only enhance this South Island beauty, sending numerous waterfalls cascading down the cliffs. Passionate nature lovers book in advance to hike the 33-mile Milford Track, a legendary route through alpine passes and temperate rainforest.

This drive along the Milford Highway is truly spectacular in our own back yard...entering into the Fiordland National Park.. no fences.. coming from a farming community, I noticed this first lol. The ever changing landscape towered by massive mountains, seeing the destruction the heavy rain fall can do, going through the Homer tunnel and meeting the Kaka up close was so awesome are just some of the things you see on this drive it really is breathtaking.

Drove past this a few times on separate trips. Got out with 8 friends and had a blast running around the field and taking photos. Great photo op for those driving to Milford or the Divide at Te Anau.

Right on the Milford Road so can just pull off and take some great photos and breathe in the scenery! If you don't like heights you may not like the steel floor that you can see down through!

On way tunnel on the way to Milford from Queenstown, this is an engineering marvel One has to wait for a few minutes ( max waiting time is 10 mins) for your-side to permit entry inside the tunnel It is a very unique experience ; one admire the engineering feat while going through the tunnel. It adds more variety to a beautiful road trip. One can spot kiwi bird while waiting for your turn
