Warm, calm and clear waters make this a perfect beach for swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving.
We have just been on the P&O Azura. and this was one of the best stops on our cruise. Sun Ray beach is located just at the end of the ships pier. The cruise centre has a number of sunbeds and parasols on the beach closest to the pier, these are free. However, these soon go and the day we were there another two cruise ships also arrived-so busy! We paid 25 dollars for two sunbeds and an umbrella, drinks were usual price -five beers for 20 dollars. Horse riding along the beach and even in the shallow sea water was available for 20 dollars. The beach is beautiful with shallow clear water just about all you could expect from the Caribbean, ideal for a swim or snorkeling. The cruise centre itself is rather small, the astronaut John Glenn splashed down nearby and has a commemoration statue and information within the centre . When we were there it was a lovely, sunny day however, if it was a dull or wet day I don't know what else would be available as the island itself is only small. Lovely beach, super sea and great people.

My husband and I recently visited Pillory Beach at the Bohio Dive Resort in Grand Turk. We booked an excursion which included time at the beach resort and an authentic British High Tea. The staff was wonderful and met our expectations. The tea was a relaxing time where we were offered an assortment of teas and had a tiered tray of rum cake, biscuits with jam, and small sandwiches. A new experience for the both of us.

Underwater park great for scuba diving, populated by lots of beautiful and exotic fish.
Columbus Landfall National Park is not only one beach, but a protected area that includes basically all of the beaches on the west coast of Grand Turk, the reef and the ocean between them. Also the most well-known beaches like Governor's or Pillory Beach are part of it. The name is based on the possibility that Grand Turk was the place where Columbus first arrived in America. It might as well been a couple of other islands in the Bahamas, we'll probably never know. Still, it's nice that the beaches of GT are protected this way, signs giving visitors an idea how to behave properly in order to protect the National Park (even though I've never seen anyone enforcing those rules). It's a beautiful walk just to stroll down the coastal areas of Cockburn Town and enjoy the lovely beach views, I've done it more than once during my 6-day stay on the island. Personally my favourite beach was Governor's Beach in the south. It has stunning colors and was completely deserted both times we visited (there was no ship in town though). Pillory Beach is quite average in my opinion and much more crowded. Also I preferred using water shoes there because of the high number of sea urchins.

After a morning hop on hop tour we truly enjoyed our stay at the cruise port, beautiful beach and property. Highly recommend a stop here.
