Breathtakingly beautiful mountainous forest: great for hiking.
Gorgeous views while driving the Cherohala Skyway and plenty of hiking opportunities as well as opportunities for viewing various water falls. We stayed at the Indian Boundary Campground, about 16 miles from Tellico Plains. It's in a great location around a beautiful lake, a large campground area that is well-managed, and a hiking trail around the lake that offers many great views. Note that the campground has electric connections but not water at the sites themselves. However, there are a multitude of water spigots around the campground loops making it easy to get more water if you run dry. There are also plentiful trash receptacles around the campground making it easy to keep the area clean.

This was about a 5 mile hike for us. It was 1.5 miles to get to the bridge to sycamore falls and then 1.5 miles to get to sycamore falls and back to the trail. 2 miles to keep going through the rest of the loop. We took 5.5 hours and stopped to take all sorts of pictures and enjoy the place. After this we were pooped for the day, the ground was pretty uneven at times and some elevation changes. The bridge to sycamore falls was just a fallen tree when we got there since the original bridge was out. This was the most treacherous part of our hike with more of a climb to get from the loop to this bridge. One of the best trails with lots of waterfalls. All of it was absolutely worth it.

This park offers 20+ miles of extensive hiking trails and over 12000 total acres of land. The wildlife in this area is abundant and very diverse. The Nature Center, Chickasaw Bluffs, and the cabins available for rent are some of the popular attractions. Any nature lover is bound to fall in love with this park. More information on this park and many more can be found at the TN State Parks website.
We rented the entire Piersol Group Camp for a wedding last year. It included the four bunkhouses (which is where we housed our wedding party and our out of town guests) and the large dining hall (that we transformed into our reception hall). The wedding ceremony was outside on the grounds surrounded by nature. It was a great location, the wedding and reception turned out beautiful, and we saved thousands of dollars compared to just about any other wedding venue around! They are making major renovations to the group camp and the park from what I was told by the park ranger so it will be even better!! Highly recommend!!!!!
