Picowines, located in the village of Madalena, started production in 1961 with 51 members. Initially, it was built with the intention of vinifying a white liqueur wine, however, it was also necessary to proceed with the vinification of American grape varieties, from which the well-known "wine of smell" was obtained, introduced in the region after the devastation of powdery mildew and phylloxera. Currently, the Cooperative has about 246 associates in active and an average production of half a million liters subdivided in the most varied wines.
