The history of our winery is directly intertwined with its founder, Giovan Battista Burlotto (the “Commendatore”), who is recognized as one of the founding fathers of Barolo wine. Burlotto competed and won several international contests, including thirty-two medals from Turin, Milan & Paris, and supplied wine to Italy’s royal household and to the Duke of Abruzzi’s expedition to the North Pole in 1899. His son Francesco had a pioneering role in establishing the Pelaverga variety.
