Great place to pick up souvenirs. Checked out all the little shops. Bought a coconut carved into a humming bird. Asked if shop owner made it and he got excited and took us out back to see his work shed. Lots of raw coconuts and some tools. He took pride in his work.

We visited on a Sunday. Started the day with a Catholic mass, in English, at a charming chapel on fifth avenue by the ferry. Wonderful service! We spent the rest of the day strolling fifth avenue and enjoyed every minute of it. Restaurants and drinks so reasonably priced!! While I will agree with other reviews that the sales pitches from the smaller shop owners are to be expected and we should accept it as part of the experience, I would be more inclined to go into their shops if I would be allowed to browse in peace. It also surprises me that in their effort to make money with every opportunity, that no one there has opened a nicely serviced pay per use restroom facility. Decent facilities were hard to find. We were on fifth avenue all day and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere!! Ended the day with a trip to my favorite shop to add to my kitchen dinnerware!!
