More European castle than American hospital, this former insane asylum offers historic and paranormal tours six days a week from April through October. Full Museum & Patient Art Gallery entry is included with your tour purchase. This Gothic National Historic Landmark holds 130 years of American history's dark side.
Awesome- I’m a history buff, who works in mental health- loved the history and enjoyed seeing the awesome restoration efforts to preserve this piece of history. Staff was super knowledgeable and genuinely cared about the building. Have been long skeptical of religious beliefs and questioned life after death. Saw and experienced thing that rocked my to my core... this place is a must see- regardless of your motivations- it is a national treasure

My reason for coming to Weston was for the Historic Insane Asylum tour, but it was closed on the one day I was in town. It turned out not to be a bad thing because I found this little hidden gem! I enjoyed some quiet time sipping wine over a fire built especially for me. I enjoyed a nice chat with the owner, who is truly an artist. This family run winery could easily complete with some of the best wineries I have visited in Europe. I plan on coming back and staying the weekend.

What started as a tribute to two beloved friends has evolved into a moving, honorable, respectful and even celebratory memorial to WV Soldiers from all branches of the military. The items on display are lovingly preserved. Each Soldier’s photo is identified with name, county and branch so that they may live on. Barb, our guide, was the perfect host. She was always available for questions and her stories truly added to the experience.

Visit the Museum of American Glass in West Virginia to see a huge collection of brilliant colored and sparkling crystal glass by dozens of American manufacturers from 1860 to the present. We currently have around 20,000 items on display, including the 2nd largest collection of Steuben art glass in the world, the National Marble Museum, and our Lady Jane stained glass doll house. We have a self guided tour available, and a research library with over 1,500 books. Please call in advance to schedule a guided tour for large groups.
I visited Weston for an overnight trip to TALA, but made a visit to this glass museum. Glass isn’t something I’m normally very interested in, but nevertheless, I did enjoy my visit. Entry is free and there are bathrooms on site for guests. The staff was friendly, I’m guessing the 2 little girls were owners kids? Hard workers and so polite! The setup of glass was nice. I enjoyed seeing the different colors and styles over the years. Pretty incredible to see glass still in tact from over a century ago! The giant glass doll house and the marbles were my favourite part!

We found Jackson's Mill Farmstead quite easily and it was lovely drive. We began our visit with a picnic lunch, then headed to the log cabin Visitor's Center to begin our tour. The center has some items for sale including flour and cornmeal ground at the onsite mill. Our guide took us through several buildings and even engaged the water driven mill stones to grind corn for us. Our guide was fantastic and the gentleman who was in the visitor's center also answered questions and both were very kind. It was a lovely visit!
