92 steps and a ladder took us to a truly gorgeous view of the island! Our legs felt like jello by the end and the ladder was a little nerve-racking for me personally but the view of the island and the ocean was worth it for us. It’s an extremely inexpensive thing to do and we enjoyed it. The museum is inside of the gift shop and it was fun to read and learn about the lighthouse. COVID precautions are taken very seriously inside of the gift shop, museum and lighthouse and we were so grateful for it! Tip: I don’t recommend for very small children. My youngest was tall enough for the lighthouse but the ladder would have been difficult for her. Children cannot be carried up the stairs or up the ladder.

What a fabulous stop in Apalachicola. Enthusiastic Park Ranger related wonderful stories about the Orman family, the civil war, and so much more. Worth the short time it takes.

This building replaced the "Old Capitol" for state government business.
If you live in Florida or visit Tallahassee you must go to the new Capitol building. Walk through the rotunda at the entrance, and make your way passed the Governors office and Chief Financial Officers offices as well as the Secretary of Agriculture on the first floor. The walls are covered with the exceptional women of Florida stories and their pictures, and there is a gift shop with amazing and beautiful gifts...and that’s just part of the first floor. Rest a while at Sharkeys Grille and enjoy a daily special, or just wait for the Governor to stroll by. Dont miss this, and enjoy Florida’s Capitol.

This home is in need of restoration, and that is, in part, why you are visiting. Your entry fee goes towards a restoration fund. It is a beautiful home, and if you have ever visited other Wright homes and have an interest, you won't be disappointed. If you are looking for a perfectly restored home, don't visit. I found it to be very beautiful in the state it is in. You can imagine the family living there. I am sure that few tours would be conducted by someone who grew up in a Wright home--the original owner's daughter conducts part of the tour and lives in the home currently.
