What a treat! With the most spectacular views! This was honestly so relaxing with views over the city of Beppu. Nights are fairly busy but I also went at midday and i was one of 3 people there so just depends what you are looking for. Definitely a must for things to do in Beppu.
“Showa” is a Japanese era name corresponding to the years from 1926 (Showa 1) to 1989 (Showa 64). Yufuin Showa-kan is an institution offering an experience of the flavor of the Showa period through its concept of old steetscapes. In particular, it highlights the Showa 30s (1955–1965), which was the height of the economic boom years in Japan, by presenting reproductions of Showa period streetscapes.

There is 2 parts to this park. If you are only visiting the lower floor, if I recall correctly it is around JPY500. However, if one wants to visit both the lower and upper floor, it will be additional of a few hundred JPY. Personally, we feel that JPY500 is worth the items that you can find in the park, including how an old bath looks like. Was quite entertaining and interesting for us. Definitely a place where you can take some interesting pictures while you do your own role play :)
This value-packed trip with a nationally-licensed and experienced multilingual tour guide is a fantastic and efficient way to explore Yufuin! Although the neighboring hot spring resort of Beppu may be larger, Yufuin has a wealth of art museums, cafes and boutiques along its main street, giving the town an atmosphere of a trendy shopping area. Nonetheless, visitors flock to the area's lodgings to enjoy bathing, with some open to daytime guests for bathing only while other hot springs are only open to those guests staying overnight. Let us know what you would like to experience and we will customize a six-hour tour that's best for you! Note*1: Please select your must-see spots from a list in the tour information to create your customized itinerary. Note*2: The Nationally-licensed Tour Guide-Interpreter certification is issued by the Japanese government requires a good knowledge and understanding of Japanese culture and history.
Inclusions: Free Photos, Hotel Pick up and Drop-off, Licensed Local Guide
Exclusions: Other personal expenses, Entrance fee (for yourself), Transportation fee (for yourself and your guide), Lunch, Private transportation
The flexibility to chose locations that suited our wants and abilities was great. Hiro San was very quick to put together an itinerary that accommodated a family with a stroller-baby (no monkey park due to long unpacked walking paths). Taking in the beautiful temples and view of the Kyoto from the west was breath taking and the guide was able to explain many things we as new Japanese learners could not read or know through cultural knowledge. Overall a great experience, a wonderful and lively guide, and some great memories.
