Sitia (Greek: Σητεία) is a port town and a municipality in Lasithi, Crete, Greece. The town has 9,912 inhabitants (2011) and the municipality has 18,318 (2011). It lies east of Agios Nikolaos and northeast of Ierapetra. Sitia port is on the Sea of Crete, part of the Aegean Sea and is one of the economic centers of the Lasithi region. European route E75, which ends in Vardø, starts in Sitia. Sitia is served by the Sitia Public Airport. Sitia has not experienced the effects of mass tourism even though there is a long beach along the road leading to Vai and several places of historical interest.

Discover some wonderful hidden places. Visit a stunning Waterfall, and one of the oldest Olive trees in the world to name just a couple of things you will see. On this tour you will visit a Gorge and a hidden Waterfall on the east side of the island. Our tour leads you along the coastline with its spectacular views. Olive trees and wildlife are everywhere. We start our hiking walk near the coast, about a half hour later we reach through a jungle type of landscape the waterfall. Crystal clear cold water is descending from an 18 meter high rock formation in a tiny small lake where we can have a deserved refreshing dip in the clear spring water. Lunch will be served at a local Taverna at the waters edge. An amazing back to nature tour which will lead you through several different types of terrain which offers a display of Wild herbs, Olive groves, elusive wildlife and the pretty photogenic jungle at the Waterfalls.

Absolutely amazing day. Petra, our tour guide, was brillant; the perfect combination of funny and informative having to switch between German and English throughout the trip. The meal arranged was perfect in a local restaurant near the cave where they served all their own produce. The cave itself was spectacular (and a cool break from the September heat). Petra ensured both us and the German couple were happy and together we had a fantastic day. It's worth doing for the views, Petra's knowledge, the delicious food and of course the cave itself. We had private Day Tour to Zeus Cave and Lassithi Plateau with Adventure Crete Company. Our tourguide Petra was excellent driver and her knowledge about Crete was top level. Our lunch at local Taverna was unbeliaveble fresh and tasty. Breathtaking views on mountains and Lassithi Plateau.
