Step back in time to discover timeless romance and rustic luxury at our 1700's Virginia farm. Prospect Hill is a unique country inn offering romantic escapes, secluded getaways, and superb four-course fine dining at our on-site restaurant... all just moments away from historic Charlottesville, VA. The 13 rooms & cottages feature private bathrooms, fireplaces, and a daily full gourmet breakfast. Well-behaved children and dogs are welcome with adults in select rooms.
Two years ago we planned to come, but COVID threw a spanner in the works. Now we could finally come over and it was worth waiting for. Prospect Hill is a very beautiful plantation whose first buildings were built around 1732. Quite a bit of history is known, which gives it extra charm. The plantation / main house and all other buildings are on a spacious 40 acre and everything is accessible to guests, so you can enjoy a nice walk but also enjoy the spacious view from one of the many places where you can sit and relax, be it in the garden, on the veranda or at your cottage. We stayed in the carriage house. That is a beautiful cottage. It consists of a very spacious room with large bed, sofa, table and chairs, etc. In addition, a small room with sofa, refrigerator, coffee maker, TV and such. At the end of this you will find the bathroom, also spacious with, among others, a bubble bath. Everything you could possibly need is there. The view is beautiful on all sides. At the rear is a small terrace with table and four chairs. Here we enjoyed our breakfast every morning (due to COVID this was not yet possible in the dining room in the main building), overlooking the hilly area and lake next to it. A big surprise was the large amount of birds that can be seen here. For bird watchers this is paradise: all you have to do is sit down and before you know it you have spotted 30 species (at least that is what my husband did). The plantation is about a half-hour drive from Charlottesville (WHS University of Virginia) and from three president's homes: Madison, Monroe, and Jefferson (WHS). An area with a lot of history. Doc and his staff were very friendly and make you feel at home. A wonderful place to stay (three nights is really too short) and to return to. Hopefully the restaurant will be open again by then.

Very nice resort in a country setting with lots of activities. We enjoyed the amenities. The area has lots of historic sites to visit and is also close to Washington DC and Richmond. We would definitely consider visiting again.

The Inn at Stevenson Ridge consists of six historical homes dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Each home is rented out to one family/group at a time. Pricing is based on whether 1 or 2 bedrooms are to be included in the rental. All houses are equipped with a refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave/toaster. Some of the homes are outfitted with a complete kitchen, making it a wonderful option for extended vacation. Breakfast is NOT included in the price of lodging. However, a continental-style Breakfast Basket of fresh foods and beverages is available at an additional charge and will be delivered to your door.
My family and I stayed the night in the Log Home as a pit stop from our drive from FL to NY. We traveled with out infant and dog. We were so happy when we arrived at the property. The cabin was very impressive… historic yet with modern amenities. The property is beautiful and we felt peaceful after a long drive. The cabin was outfitted with a coffee maker and some coffee, along with plates and silverware in the full kitchen. The beds were very comfortable and the place was very clean. On the way back to FL, we decided to make a stop again instead of driving further. We stayed at the Tobacco Barn which was smaller, but equally as impressive. It was great to have accommodations that met our needs in the road, to include our dog. This was a lovely respite and we only wish that we had more time to enjoy it!

Reserve your room at The Boxley Place Inn to have an enjoyable stay in Louisa, VA. Our bed and breakfast has five rooms with and a cabin suite that has all the amenities you'll need. It is located on a lovely 3-acre estate with shops and restaurants nearby.
We arrived and was greeted by a friendly little lady named Kathy, who showed us around and showed us to our room. The house is historical beautiful, charming and a place I would stay again at. Only reason why I didn't give it an excellent rating... after Kathy spent both days around us and the other guest, she asked us a personal question that was none of her business and then treated us differently because she didn't agree with our answer. We found it beyond rude and unprofessional.
