We booked an apartment for a week. The property is made up of 3 buildings, the farmhouse occupied by the owners, a converted barn with 3 apartments (where we stayed) and the old staples which have also been converted into (larger) accommodation. The farm is surrounded by fields where animals roam and woods. The village is very quiet, with only a restaurant and the odd visit from the ice-cream van for entertainment, but the town of Hotton is quite close for supplies and petrol. The flat we rented is on two levels in the attic of the barn, living room/kitchenette/bathroom on the lower floor and 3 beds on the higher level. This means, for families, that all either go to bed early or all go late ! The apartment was small but clean. The kitchen is quite small. Cooking facilities consist of one stove with 4 plates, but a communal microwave can be used downstairs. Having a microwave in each apartment would be more comfortable but I think that space in the kitchen would be an issue. We had breakfast at the flat, packed a picnic for lunch and usually ate at the "friterie" in Hotton in the evening. Wi-Fi is available but erratic (rural location and number of users on the network) so we had a bit of a digital detox (but it didn't kill us !). The Dutch owners were friendly and helpful.

We stayed here for one night, but we could have easily extended it if we wanted to. The room was very spacious for a more than decent price, with a separate (clean) bathroom. The location itself is both beautiful and convenient: in the midst of nature and yet not too far off the highway. The host (who lives at the location) only speaks French, but he is so warmhearted and generous (and extremely patient with my knowledge of French which, clearly, needs a serious boost). We had to leave early for business, yet he insisted on making us breakfast at 6.30. In his own cosy living room, he offered freshly made rolls and a variety of jams, cheese if we wanted it, fruit juice and coffee. He clearly wanted to engage in conversation, and if my French had been any better, I'm sure we could have had longer talks. It's a charming place if you want to visit Durbuy or other close areas.

***STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE*** Worst experience we've ever had. Once you book this place you'll start receiving emails from this company of many different extra charges!! It's simply a scam. You can't cancel after you book so you are basically screwed. The ladies at the place are extremely rude and arrogant. When I explained the issues of the extra charges they simply did not care at all, saying it's not their problem and arrogantly saying "I have a right to disagree, it's not our fault". Then who's fault is it?! you work there!! You will pay hundreds of Euros in addition to what you have paid. You pay a cleaning fee but they will charge 10 Euro per uncleaned kitchen utensil! You must empty the dishwasher, take out the garbage, empty the fridge, clean all appliances, empty the wood fire, fold up bedding, return furniture to their original place and more! You will pay 10-40 Euros for each thing you haven't done. And all of this is after you paid a cleaning fee in advance. Your booking will not include sheets and towels! You have to pay extra for that and of course it's not mentioned anywhere. Your booking does not include electricity. Beware! Stay away.

Acceuil tout à fait charmant, même à une heure tardive. Me Annie se donne à fond pour ses hôtes. Chambres à thèmes très rigolottes et surprenantes. Petit déjeuner magnifique et pantagruelique. A recommander
