We planned a short nostalgic holiday to enjoy region beautiful nature and do a bit of sightseeing. Akhalkalaki is a tiny tiny town in Georgia inhabited by Armenians. The nice surprise was that we managed to find a really decent hotel to stay. Second surprise was the attitude of the staff in the hotel. The lady serving our breakfast was extremly warm and friendly. The owner extremely helpful. Third the hotel was very safe, we parked the car outside, left gadgets and belongings in the room. Nothing shadowed our stay in the hotel. I strongly recommended it to business and tourist travelers.

Omelette was fantastic , as was the breakfast which is served from 8am. Early breakfasts are hard to get in some countryside hotels. This is an excellent stop if you’re on a cycling tour like we are. This morning we cycle to Vardzia with a full belly and having had a great nights sleep.

We checked in late...7 pm...room was small with 2 single beds & private bathroom for 90 gel. Heat minimal in room however they did have an extra blanket in the cupboard. We ordered supper- We were charged 25 gel each for a piece of cold chicken, stale bread, a small salad of a tomatoes & cucumber & slices of fried potato & a caraf of sour wine. Inclusive breakfast was a hard boiled egg, small dollop of yogurt & applesauce, bread, a piece of cheese & tea. We had to ask kitchen for the tea.. Comparatively, much more expensive room & food than other places we stayed at that had nicer accommodations & much tastier & larger quantities of food. They were remodeling so maybe it will be nicer later. I felt we were taken advantage of as foreigners with a late (7pm) check in.
