I see Blow me Down mountain from my window every day. It is also a great place to hike and get an unbelievable view of Corner Brook, Woods Island, Governors Island, Lark Harbour, York Harbour, the North Arm. It is a challenging hike but not too strenuous. And worth the effort!

The Roost is a gift shop specializing in Newfoundland handmade crafts. At The Roost our workshops are always open to visitors to watch artisans at work. The 45 minute drive from Corner Brook to York Harbour is one of the most scenic drives you will ever experience. In addition to the beautiful scenery, this area offers hiking, beach combing, shopping, places to eat and places to sleep.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay at Blow me Down Provincial Park. The park is quiet, the comfort station is clean, and the beach in the Park is breathtaking. There is a 3KM trail in the park (James Cook Heritage Trail) that leads out to Lark Harbour Head; a stunning panoramic view of the Bay of Islands. You can find the trailhead easily by the sign, but don’t miss the Governor’s Stairs (which also links up with the trail) located on the beach to the left. The stairs are built in the rock. It is quite amazing. To enjoy the sunset, we drove through Lark Harbour to Bottle Cove. There is a short boardwalk to a point of land that gives a spectacular view of the ocean and the sun setting on the horizon.
