We started our guided walk with Wyclef at the Rondo Retreat Centre. The vegetation inside the forest is unique and the plants are so diverse. Our guide Wyclef explained a lot about the vegetation, plants and some animals. We were climbing a hill on top of the forest were we had a 360 degree view over the forest. It was very interesting and enjoyable!

Two of us trekked up Mount Elgon over four days (three nights) starting from Budadiri. Accompanying us were two guides, two porters and a cook - all of whom can be booked through Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) at Budadiri. We also rented sleeping bags and tents from them - at very reasonable cost. We brought food with us but the cook could have sorted this for us a well. We stayed in Mbale the night before, but UWA have cabins to stay in at Budadiri which would have been better to stay in. We could have then got everything ready for an early start. The trek is hard but not difficult. Alex, our guide, made sure the pace was gentle and suited to our ability. He was also an expert on birds and wildlife, pointing out lots of interesting things along the way. We stayed at the Sasa camp on the first night - about 6 hours from Budadiri and in the middle of the forest by a stream . Then the Mude Cave camp the second night - about four hours from Sasa higher up on the upper grassland. Then back to Sasa for the third night after climbing Mount Elgon. The nights were cold so bring thermals. It was a wonderful trip. The scenery is strikingly beautiful and I'll never forget walking past plants with such vivid colours and aromatic smells all in the company of knowledgeable and friendly guides. Highly recommended.
