Exhibits, operating oil field machinery and historic buildings honoring the beginning of the modern oil industry.
You enter through the gift shop, which has a great selection of books, tourist junk, and nice crafts/art. The main museum building will offer a 17 minute movie about petroleum and the oil industry which is worth watching even though it is probably aimed at a target audience of 10-14 year olds. The museum has a nice selection of tools used in oil drilling and extraction, the best explanation of fractionation I've seen, and a lot of historical exhibits on the petroleum industry.
The real gem of this museum, however, is located a short 50 meter walk from the modern museum building -- an historically accurate reproduction of Drake's well, the first oil well. Every board in the well house and derrick is numbered and individually sized to replicate the original house (which was destroyed twice in a natural gas explosion). Inside you'll find an accurate reconstruction of the steam engine used to power the drilling of the first well that is powered by steam and actually appears to produce oil out of the original 70' well. We got a detailed explanation of the trials and tribulations of "Colnel" Drake and "Uncle" Billy as they drilled the first well, as well as the mechanics of petroleum and natural gas extraction.
The grounds contain additional exhibits covering petroleum drilling and extraction and are worth the additional walk and time.
The museum staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Would definitely go again.

had a group of 30 that did the murder mystery train ride. Dinner was quite delicious at the station (although a bit cramped). The train ride was enjoyable. The actors were engaging. Would definitely do it again. We then all stayed in the cabooses overnight...MoreThank you for your 5 star rating. We are pleased you enjoyed the Murder Mystery Dinner. In All Seriousness (the actors) and Stewart's Premier Catering always do a great job for us.

Great Eastern Cutlery is a manufacturer of traditional pocket knives located in historic Titusville, Pennsylvania. Founded in 2006, we have quickly gained a reputation for producing the finest classic cutlery in the U.S.A. Every one of our knives goes through an estimated 200 hands on processes resulting in a beautifully crafted pocket knife. Factory Tours are Available Mon - Fri 7am to 2 pm
Today was our first time visiting this cutlery. I have seen their knives before but never stopped at the factory. The tour took about and hour and was very informative. I know more about a knife then every though possible. Very detailed and friendly. It takes over 200 steps to make one knife, these are all hand made and most of the parts are made in house...even the bone dying for the handles.

It has been a long time since I have been there but I don't seem to recall a very extensive tour of the knife making process. The company is too small to spend a lot of time having organized tours. It is interesting though.
We are a family owned and operated alpaca farm. 37 alpacas make their home here currently. We offer a variety of services from selling animals, to selling products made from their fiber, to boarding and breeding services.
