I've always seen signs for WinStar so I decided to make a day trip up to see it. It's a very impressive site. The facade of casino alone is awesome. The decor on the inside is also pretty cool but is also repetitive. Maybe since...MoreNicole, thank you for taking the time to leave us this review! Discover Frank Buck Zoo for a one of a kind family experience. Located in 85-acre tree filled Leonard Park which offers picnic tables, two covered pavilions, a sprawling community playground, Leonard Park Aquatic Center (seasonal), and miniature train ride (seasonal). An ideal value priced day trip destination for families and youth organizations. Discounted admission available for school groups. Located right in the heart of Gainesville, Texas, the Frank Buck Zoo has been serving the children, schools and citizens of North Central Texas and Southern Oklahoma for over 50 years. Over 75,000 guests visit the Frank Buck Zoo annually. In March of 2008 the Frank Buck Zoo became home to the World's Only Frank Buck Exhibit when Frank's daughter Barbara Buck befriended the zoo staff and donated items that belonged to her father. Resulting in a fascinating collection of camp tools used to capture animals and media memorabilia from the 1930, 1940, & 1950's. Be sure to plan your zoo arrival in time to experience the 10:30am daily public giraffe feeding. Experience a "giraffe's eye-view" of the African Savannah exhibit from an elevated walkway, the exhibit is home to eight different species of animals. Pause to take in the view at the African Outpost overlooking the water hole. Be sure to have quarters on hand so little ones can feed the friendly goats.
My first time here, and I and the family enjoyed it. We went on a Tuesday, and it was rather cool and cloudy. Due to that, besides the zoo staff, we were the only ones there. I liked the layout, and they had a fair amount of animals. Not all the displays were "natural habitat", but everything looked cleaned and well maintained. I enjoyed the Cheetah exhibit, as we were a scant 10' from the cats, which was closer than I've ever seen them. Same for the Coyotes. The big highlight for me, was the Boardwalk. We came in the opposite was of the intended flow of it, so you walked up the ramp and *BAM* there it is: a WIDE open area of African animal goodness. I was impressed with the several acres of open space for the giraffes, ostriches, zebra and ibex(?). Having the camel and donkey tucked away in the same space, was nice, too. Overall, we really enjoyed it. Being by ourselves, and taking our time, reading a lot of the informational signs and watching the animals that held our interest, it only took us hour and a half to walk the whole zoo. Despite the relative cold, most of the animals were out and active. My only complaints were some exhibits being worked on, so we couldn't see those animals, and some of the informational signs need to be replaced/redone.
Overall, for a nice zoo and not necessarily an all day affair, this is a great place to visit.

We visited the Winstar in November, conditions in the middle of the week were very windy, but a great course. We didn't take advantage of the academy but gathered information to do it next time we come back. Really impressed, worth a trip/ visit!

Steely Dan was great & Fagan really sounded excellent.... except when he spoke in microphone.
This venue is a large conference room, not a concert hall so acoustics arent the best.
The band sounded great but mic system is not up to par.
Luckily we were close enough to see stage monitors really well.
But seating was not elevated in tiers. Its actually metal, cushioned dining chairs used in banquets so you cannot see thru the heads! What a rip off! They need a dedicated concert hall. The only stacked seats were the last section in back.
I loved the band but would have been enhanced with better venue.

Being this is Trip Advisor I would advise you to take your money elsewhere. The employees are good and the bathrooms are clean but don't expect much more of a winning experience here as these slot machines are extremely tight. I've been playing here for...MoreHello, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We wish you luck for next time. Best, Katie L.
