The Suffolk Owl Sanctuary is home to more than 80 beautiful and unusual owls and other birds of prey. Between Easter & September, we give three flying displays daily, each featuring different birds. There is also a woodland walk featuring red squirrels and "Meerkat Kastle", the home to our resident tribe of desert dwellers. Our picnic areas are scattered throughout the centre. Children are catered for with an inclusive play area, mini-maze, a free S.O.S. Safari activity with a gift for all young participants, and other games & activities. In addition we run a selection of falconry courses and photo days which allow great access to the birds - these are very popular with keen photographers. There is full wheelchair access to the Sanctuary throughout.
Visited today after making the trip from Norfolk, so glad we decided to, what an amazing place. Our visit was a delight from start to finish, from the personal encounter with the Meerkats (for up to five people at a time, i was lucky enough to be the only one today) to the informative flying display to the details on each of the different birds in the averies. with an unhurried feel (the wrist bands, so you can come and go were a real bonus) and friendly staff you can easily lose three or four hours here. picnic tables in amoung the averiries were a nice touch and made a perfect place for a small pack lunch.. there is lots to do for children and even a nod to the real reason of the sanctuary a chance to vist the bird hospital.... The flying display is a must both for the close up feel of the magnificent birds and knowledge imparted in an informal and fun way by the dedicated staff and aided by wonderful volunteers. well worth a family day out! some info now. not dog friendly in the sanctuary itself but the surrounding barns are. no toilets on site, but very near outside wrist bands means you can come and go. free parking, lots of disabled spots right outside. disabled friendly inside with room for small disabled scooter and or wheel chair.

We recently came to the viking and Anglosaxon event 12-8pm and it was amazing. The day was full of exciting events and had lots of hands on activities for the public to engage with. It had something for all ages young to old and also had a warm inside entertainment area to get out the cold for a while. Only comment was how expensive the food and drink was but that’s expected at an event like this I guess Would defo recommend and go again for sure
