For over 80 years visitors have enjoyed a step back in time when they visit the Overland Trail Museum. Extensive exhibits include pioneer history, Native American artifacts and antique farm equipment. Historic buildings include two barns, a general store, a prairie school, church, barbershop, 1915 stone block house, a caboose and a boxcar depot.

I'm really not a beer drinker, but this new spot is so appealing and fun-looking that Hubby, our grown son and I gave it a try on a Friday night before the free July concert on the courthouse lawn. Our son lives in the Denver area and enjoys many of the micro brews there. Parts & Labor still seems to be working out some kinks with the wait staff and food and we were never offered a food menu (I later found out they do now offer a few food items). But the decor is great...especially if you're like me and admire old cars/ automotive memorabilia. Since it's in the old garage and parts department area of the dealership that called that historic building home for years, the theme is logical and very well done. The beer drinker among us was pleased with his selections and I actually found a beer I would order again!

This little cooperative has 15 member artists plus several guest artists. Their art represents several mediums and styles. There is a price point for everyone. The building is a retro-fitted industrial space that has an appealing appearance. This business provides classes and demonstrations in addition to selling high quality art. It is a "must see" if you stop in Sterling. Sterling Creatives is located in a fun block that is shared with a bike shop, a brewery and a restaurant located in a restored, historic car dealership building.

Hard to believe this was my 150th state park in three years. How does north sterling compare? Pretty well really. The reservoir itself is an oasis in the middle of mountain desert country. I saw boaters and jet skiers making the most of the water. The campground seemed real nice, just not a ton of privacy. The hiking trails were fun and I saw little lizards everywhere. Overall really a cool park worth spending some time at.

We were driving to and from Colorado and found this statue listed at roadsideamerica.com. When we take road trips roadsideamerica is a good companion to tripadvisor because it has some quirky places that might not be on tripadvisor. This statue is the story of lost dreams redeemed. It looks a little like an alien or, as described on roadsideamerica, a steampunk monkey. The execution is superb. There's lots interesting detail all around it, including a reference to a passage from Job specific to dreams. It's a bit off the beaten path (actually it's a ways off the interstate) but surely worth a visit. Look for the playground in the park behind (or is it in front of) the school. It's not super large and isn't all that obvious from the street - you have to go into the parking lot to see it. Get out of the car, walk around it. It's way cool.
