Nesvag is situated right by open sea in Sokndal commune. The ocean always having been very important for the people of this region, we here encounter long and rich fishing traditions. Now, this idyllic spot has gotten its own sea and motormuseum. We also have our own harbour and an old fishing hostel called Fiskarheimen. Berthed in the harbour is M/S Sjodis, rentable for fishing excursions and sightseeing. Fiskarheimen goes back to 1883 and it's interior is in the old style with kerosene lamps, wooden stove and in general anything and everythig you may expect to find in an old fishing hostel. Simple attendance and lodging for small groups is possible and must be ordered in advance. The building was awarded the Building Conservation Award in 1998. Now a part of the museum, M/S Sjodis was originally a 57 foot prawntrawler. It has been conserved as far as possible in it's original condition and is now certified for up to 12 passengers. It is used for fishing expeditions, local sightseeing and for festivals and celebrations. For more information, please see our homepage.

If you are traveling between Stavanger and Kristiansand and it's not during harsh winter conditions I strongly recommend visiting this place. You can see photos of this place, but you really have to stand next to these houses to get a grasp of the place. It's amazing. There is no entrance fee and the place, including the houses, are open 24/7. Really a good spot to take photos. I live nearby, just over an hour to get there, and I stop here 2-3 times a year driving my bike as this a great road for bikes.
