While we were in Kingston for a family reunion, we took a tour organized by Stephen Grant of GPS Taxi and Tours to the Craighton Estate coffee plantation and lunch at Strawberry Hill. The tour started with a short hike through the coffee plantation up paved steps built into the mountainside to a beautiful lookout of Kingston and Port Royal. Our guide, Jerome, was very knowledgeable about the coffee plants, their lifecycle, harvesting and environmental considerations and he kept us engaged with his easy delivery and interaction with the group. This was followed up with a talk on the verandah of the Great House by Junior on the history and processing of the coffee bean into a tasty cup of coffee. Junior’s presentation was informative and his evident passion for the coffee industry was infectious. The tour ended with us sampling a delicious cup of Blue Mountain coffee paired with some yummy rum cake. We had a great time and we would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Jamaica.
We realize that many of our tourists visit, but never really experience the true Jamaica and all it has to offer. We want to introduce you to all sides of this little paradise called Jamaica - restaurants, nightlife, recreation, music, accommodation, scenic tours, rivers and waterfalls, and cultural experiences.
