Tad Mok waterfall is located at Ban Sopkong village where is a bout 2km or 45min by walk from the village. It’s very good to trek to the waterfall - you will pass by many rice paddy fields at the same time you could see the farmers working on the field also the animals such as water buffaloes, cows, pigs etc...when you are closer to the waterfall you hear the sound of waterfall is dropping water from the top, it’s about 30m height, it’s a good atmosphere to be here because of the nice sound of waterfall, many green big tree surrounding plus the warm sunshine that make you feel very relax, of course you can swim ????♂️ but the water is very cold. Before the pool was larger, now is less water because the local people used to cut the tree ???? in order to grow their crops. Water level depends on the weather season too. Tad Mok in lao word means ‘’the mist’’ is simply natural beautiful, the best time to visit is in the morning because you would not meet others tourist, it’s super quiet here and you probably would see the mist from the waterfall. On your way back to Ban Sopkong village you can drink some tea or coffee and relax at Yensabai Organic Farm Cafe. This farm is worth visiting too. Please, pay attention: Some tour guides are not conscious enough and leave garbage after a picnic next to a waterfall. The villagers who are in charge to take care have to clean the area but they hide the garbage at the forest nearby the waterfall. Dear travelers, show your responsibility, take care of nature, take the trash back with you.

I came across Xay's website, and after reading about his ideals I was determined to find my way there. Take a boat from Nong Khiaw to Muang Ngoy and tell them to drop you off in Sop Keng, or hike there from either of the villages (Nong Khiaw, or Muang Ngoy). You will absolutely not regret it. Spend there a few nights if time allows and simply sink in to the environment; nature, food, silence, local village and above all excellent host. If you only have a day to spare, still go visit the waterfalls, and stop by for coffee or tea and to say hi to Xay!

It was worth the climb and the huge crowds to see a magnificent sunset from the top. Managed to take a few lovely photos despite - it may have been better just to look at the scenes
