Visit with my sister ..Arrived to a lovely warm welcome from Chris lovely guy ..Chris showed us around then we’re left to enjoy our 3 hours of relaxation...what a lovely place we had a lovely sauna and spa pool, it was a cold rainy night so we felt cozy and warm in the relaxing swing sofas after our spa pool,.snacks of cake (delicious) scones with jam and butter ,coffee ,tea water, crisps, sweets and fruit ..two great changing areas the ladies with hairdryer, straighteners and creams etc, lovely robes ,when our time had finished we both felt so relaxed we could have stayed the night lol ...I’ve been to other spas but this will take some beating..I’ve booked again for me and hubby next time and can’t wait .so glad I found this little gem .

A unique spot in the heart of the Pennine countryside, Standedge Tunnel is the longest canal tunnel in Britain and makes a perfect family day out. As one of the Seven Wonders of the Waterways visitors can explore deep into the tunnel on one of the family friendly guided boat trips, stop for a bite to eat in the cafe and let the kids jump, climb and explore around our playground and wildlife garden.
As a Yorkshire girl I hate to confess that, until last week, I had never heard of Standedge Tunnel. We had an interesting time in the visitor centre at the Marsden end learning more about the genius, Thomas Telford. After a short ride by boat into the tunnel we took the car over to the western end of the tunnel where we had a lovely walk along the canal, past many locks, to look at the other entrance.

This is a beautiful place to walk with stunning views once you get to the high points. The paths are quite well worn and there are sign posts so it’s quite an easy place to walk. It’s very blustery on the tops so take something to protect your ears.

A pint of March Haigh is in my opinion, the best pint of ale available anywhere! This is a friendly pub where they take pride in the ales they offer and if you enjoy a tipple, it is a must!
