Seth Peterson Cottage

For fans of Frank Lloyd Wright's, this cottage is a must-see. We happened to be arriving in the area, to visit Taliesin, on the Sunday when the cottage had its open house in May (it was Mother's Day how delightful). The cottage is only open for tours one Sunday a month, and is also much in demand as it can be rented out by the night through the organization that has meticulously restored it. Our wonderful tour guide gave us insight into the cottage, and Seth Peterson, as well as telling us about the restoration and the incredible organization that is making sure that the public gets to see this gem in the woods. Speaking of being in the woods -- even with our GPS we found it difficult to find the cottage as we saw no signs pointing us in the right direction. It was worth taking the winding roads to this very private and lovely site.

Market Square Cheese

By the store name we expected a cheese shop. Once inside we realized it's a lot more! The cheese cooler wraps around the middle of the store, with a large selection. Off to the left of the entrance is a wide selection of condiments, jellies, jams, honeys & etc., most locally produced. Continuing around the cooler we travel through the snack section with a selection of crackers, chocolates, and general treats. Next to that is a selection of "tourist trap" stuff: toy bows and arrows for the kids, shot glasses post cards and other items with the "Wisconsin Dells" name on it. Then at the far end of the store a freezer with meats, a cooler with drinks, and kitchenware appropriate to the wears they sell. There's definitely more packed into the store than initially meets the eye when pulling up! (And, of course, everyone needs to take the obligatory picture with the big mouse at the front door...)

Definitely get your money's worth. Expert handlers for the horse trail...The trail takes you deep into the woods along the canyon...you would never know the tourists or the hubbub of the city was near. It was a good adventure for my great granddaughter and I ( I'm 83). Our horses were well groom and gentle. Thanks Dave!
