This is a smaller museum in International Falls that has two very different and unique parts. One half of the facility is dedicated to Bronko Nagurski who was one of the greats of the Chicago Bears and a native son of International Falls. There is an excellent 14 minute film of his life and a number of items and storyboards that illustrate his very unique life. (We also got to meet the grand nephew of Nagurski who just happened to be there at the same time and to take a picture of him with the stature of his uncle.)
The other side of the museum which was there first is a history of the area from pre-history through the Voyageurs period and the present. It has a great many artifacts, pictures, and storyboards; it is unique and very informative. The docent there was very helpful and offered valuable information on the exhibitions and the area.
There is an entry fee for the museum and an excellent gift shop which has a number of items including hand grown wild rice and CDs of music of the area.
The museum sits just to the north of Smokey Bear Park and the big statue of Smokey that necessitates a picture!
So with one stop you get three special sites in International Falls.

I have visited numerous NP across the country - trying for all 50 plus, but this was one of my least favorite. Probably because this is certainly a boating NP where you need some type of watercraft to access most of the part and I am much more of a hiker.
Limited facilities, some centers only open part of the week. If you are a boater, perhaps this NP would be better for you. I will pass on a future visit.

My husband and I booked a boat through Voyageurs Outfitters so that we could camp and explore nearby Voyageurs National Park.
From the first phone call with Eric, he was exceedingly friendly, welcoming and helpful. He was very knowledgeable and able to answer any questions we had.
The process of having the boat delivered was seamless and easy. We had a bit of an issue with the boat (100% OUR FAULT, not faulty equipment) and he came all the way out to our campsite to help us out. He didn't act upset or put out by it at all. He was very friendly and professional.
I feel like anyone who wants to check out VNP (and you should!!) should use Voyageurs Outfitters for all their boating needs. I can't say enough nice things about Eric!
