There are multiple monuments in the square. The confederate one is informative and gives information on all the battles men in the area served in. There were no battles on the actual site. One monument is for all veterans and was a project by en Eagle Scout from the area. Wonderful short walk.

Confederate Gen. Otto French Strahl was born in Ohio, but called Dyersburg home at the time the Civil War began. Here he helped recruit soldiers for the Confederate Army. On Nov. 30, 1864, Strahl died at the battle of Franklin, Tenn., leading his troops in action.
Today Strahl's grave in Dyersburg is marked with a monument containing a cannon barrel from the Confederate garrison of Fort Pillow, located about 50 miles south. A Tennessee historical marker about Strahl is at the edge of the historic old Dyersburg City Cemetery, on East Court Street (Tennessee Highway 104), just east of downtown. There is no admission fee.
The memorial is simple, well maintained and appropriate.

This walk is moving. It lists the cause of death of many of our brave men. Some are KIA some MIA. Families should always have a body to grieve over and bury. Can not imagine this. A must if you like history in the area.

We were able to get tickets for the pre showing of King Arthur free over the internet. Someone had told me that AMC had taken over the theater and that renovations had been done....but to the best of my knowledge there have been no renovations. We had already had dinner before entering the movie so we did not eat any snacks or have any drinks on this visit.
