The Arabic Baths in Baza are completely hidden from the street - the museum building looks like a concrete bunker in the middle of a quiet back street yet inside the baths have been partially restored to give a unique insight into a time when people gathered in public baths for pleasure, business and a spiritual experience.
We had visited Roman baths before, and there are similarities. Here, the remarkable experience is the way the arched roof of the baths has been carefully restored, with lights above to simulate the atmosphere bathers would have enjoyed as the sun shone brightly through the star-shaped vents in the ceiling into the rooms below.
The museum is not large - a half hour or so will permit you to see everything - but it provides a small area on the ground level where information boards describe the significance and experience of bathing to the Arabic population of the thirteenth century (although there is some debate as to the dating of the baths themselves), while down below as you enter the baths themselves the experience is quite breathtaking. Information is provided in Spanish and English, so don't worry if you don't speak Spanish.
We bought a joint ticket for EUR 4.50 which permits entry into the baths as well as the town's Acheological Museum and the 'Centre for Archeological Interpretation (CIYA) just on the outskirts of town. Three museums, all very different, for under five pounds was great value - you don't have to visit them all on the same day, so the joint ticket is perfect if you're staying nearby.

I read about this restaurant in things to do in Baza and the reviews were good. I could not find it on restaurants in Baza and wanted to try it. It did not disappoint. We had a 10 Euro menu del dia and there were huge choices for both first and 2nd plates. We had soups for the first plate and a large plate of delicious Dorada for the second plate. The waitress was very helpful and friendly and we enjoyed sitting outside eating.

Relatively new museum judging by decor which is situated overlooking the Plaza Major. Takes you right back in time and explains the geography of the town and area and it's history. Some great exhibits which are very interesting. Most of displays have explanations/ descriptions in both Spanish and English.

Altiplanatur is a small company based in the Altiplano de Granada who do nature tours in the area. I booked for a day visiting the Sierra de Segura, to find out about the countryside, flora and fauna, and in particular, fungus. 0830 to 1730 including lunch and a lot of kilometres was great value for €35. My guide for the day, Juan, was extremely knowledgable about all aspects of nature and I learnt a lot about finding, identifying and collecting edible fungi. There were plenty of stops for photography (the scenery was amazing!) and bird-spotting - it's a great area for big birds. Lunch was in a bar in a mountain village, which served a selection of traditional dishes. I had more than enough to eat and it was all home-made and delicious. There was time after lunch to visit a local beauty spot before returning home. I came home with a basket of edible fungi and some great memories! I would thoroughly recommend this company for a day out, and they seemed able to adapt to a variety of interests and abilities. Some level of Spanish would be useful to understand things in detail, but not necessary.
