A mature property, which has evolved over more than 45 years, Rapaura Watergardens offers something for everyone; native trees, ferns, seasonal flora, lily ponds, meandering walks over lush green lawns, bridges and streams, garden sculptures by an award winning artist and a relaxing bush walk to a cascading waterfall, ‘The Seven Stairs to Heaven’.
An exceptionally beautiful walk in bush like surroundings. The huge Lilly ponds and the waterfalls on one track were very easy to stroll along as was the second section winding around water features, sculptures and amusing sayings on signposts. The Cafe is lovely with good food. Excellent service from Sasha - thank you,so efficient and Sally was a gracious hostess, thank you both. A stand out day out with the Garden Club.

This suprised me. I wasn't expecting much, but it really is a superb learning center. There's a very short hike to see some mining dam remants that is well worth the short walk from the visitors center. From there you can take off to the Pinnacles or take your choice of several other tramps in the immedicate area.

Excellent hike, track is in great condition and easy to follow. We started at 8am and made it to top of pinnacles by midday. We finished at 4pm so took us 8 hours all up. The motel owner said allow 6.5-8.5 hours to complete so we came within this. phewww Its really windy at the top as its exposed and recommend hiking poles for your knees.

This is a stunning walk and worth seeing the small Grove of Waiomu Kauri trees. It follows a creek along an old pack saddle route used by miners. NOTE. 1) the initial causeway crossing is likely to have water on it. We waded through as water was only 5cm deep. There are some unstable stepping stones . 2) parking is possible closer to the track start. Drive a further 500m past the sign. Pull off on the left.
