If you are passing through or staying at beautiful Saltburn, pause for a moment and take in the beauty of a stroll along the pier whilst watching those brave surfers catch a wave or two! Look out for the mark of the knitters who are celebrating the Pier’s 150th Birthday and look up towards the cliff cab which will take you onwards and upwards if your legs can’t carry you back up the hill into town. .... Gorgeous sunsets this week, and wonderful friendly folk! Very impressed with the town promoting everyone to talk two minutes of their day and pick up any plastic from the beach... & people were taking time out to support x

We have recently moved to Saltburn, and it was so nice to be able to take our three small dogs for walks on the beach. Impressively clean, and with a vast expanse of golden sands it was so lovely to amble after lunch.

Unfortunately, due to necessary Corovid-19 counter measures Saltburn Cliff Tramway is closed to the public until further notice. We do not know, at this juncture, how long this will be for and will keep you informed of any developments. On behalf of all the staff on the Tramway please stay safe. Saltburn Cliff Tramway is the oldest water balanced funicular still in operation in Great Britain. Come and visit us in the new season for a genuine piece of Victorian nostalgia. In a full year following our refurbishment we have worked hard to improve the visitor experience and we are delighted we have been awarded the VisitEngland Quality Rose Marque for 2019/20.
The Staff where extremely friendly and made sure this was an enjoyable experience for us, they where happy to answer our questions and made sure we had a comfortable ride up to the top. We brought our dogs onto The Cliff lift at no extra charge and they helped accommodate by giving us extra room around us as we have a rescue dog who is nervous around other people. The Cliff Lift is very affordable and is a lovely experience for anyone, the inside of the carriage is very well maintained and was spotless - the views of the sea, sand, and people below is very picturesque and no matter the weather allows for a view of the entire surrounding area that is sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face. The ride is surprisingly smooth and steady, while the Clift Lift is not always open it is very well maintained and is closed when repairs are needed to ensure it is safe, considering it is over 100 years (being built in 1884) the spotless condition it is in and how well maintained the Cliff lift still is (especially while remaining extremely affordable) is a testament to those who run it. I 100% recommend you give it a go if you are in Saltburn.
