Umbertide is a town and comune (township) of Italy, in the province of Perugia in northwestern Umbria, at the confluence of the Reggia river and the Tiber. It is 30 km (19 mi) North of Perugia and 20 km (12 mi) South of Città di Castello. With 16,890 inhabitants according to the 2011 census, Umbertide is one of the larger towns of Umbria; and basically flat, which is relatively unusual for the region. It is an important regional industrial center producing machine tools, farm machinery, textiles, packaging material, and ceramics.

Yoga retreat
A retreat at Caimeli is close to what it must feel like to be in heaven. The food is just amazing. James treats cooking like an art and is extremely skilled at it. He uses local, organic, seasonal produce and makes everything from scratch. We dined on home-made Middle Eastern dips, Asian soups, European desserts and home-made Italian lasagna (vegetarian, of course!). Then there is the fresh air and sound of birds. Situated far from the road, you don't hear anything but nature. At night time, everything is completely quiet and after a day of yoga, hiking, meditating, eating nourishing food, and lazing around with a book on the lawn - you sleep like a baby (or an exhausted adult, retreating from the world). It's a really great experience. The only word of warning I have is that in spring and autumn, the house is still quite cold from the winter. So, bring your warm layers with you!
