We're your number one destination for cue sports in the UK; offering snooker, American Pool or English pool facilities. Came in Riley’s again and yet again was treated a great night out. Played pool on great tables, the Guinness was the best in town by a long shot, and the manager is great. Treats everyone with respect and has a great time with his customers. Highly recommend, stop in you won’t be disappointed.

Heaton Park Tramway

Went on one of the driving experiences, fascinating. Just did the half-an-hour taster, full days are available at much greater cost. Thanks to Tony our patient instructor and Ed the organiser, plus our guard it was very enjoyable. You get to drive the tram from the museum premises down to the gates and back, twice, learn how to notch up and off and use the handbrake. Remarkably simple really once you get the hang of it and it's easy to see why the old tram drivers found it difficult to adapt to the buses of the day which you had to steer, master the art of double declutching etc. If you like historic transport this is well worth it. Well stocked little shop with tram/bus/train books and models, toilets and refreshment facilities elsewhere in the Park. Not sure whether we were allowed to park on the drive near the Museum, in the end we moved the car to one of the Pay-& Display car parks.

The Woodthorpe

Contemporary menu served in a fairly opulent old Manor House Staff were courteous, food was delicious chef standard throughout and that’s why I’ve been there three times now The pricing is very affordable and this place probably offers one of the best value classic venues in the wider area
