The Elephant Happy Hour is an activity that we organize here in Sauraha as an ethical alternative to the riding. At the moment, there aren’t many options for elephant tourism besides riding. We give a working elephant the chance to do what she wants for an hour instead. We start with an info/safety session, followed by a short jeep ride to where the elephants work. After a short introduction (with fruits!) we stand back, observe and let her be an elephant. This activity is run by StandUp4Elephants (SU4E). We are an NGO based in Belgium but working full time in Nepal. We are 100% non-profit, all proceeds above the cost of renting the elephants' time go directly back into improving their lives. Space is limited, RESERVATION REQUIRED in advance. (WE DO NOT HAVE A PUBLIC OFFICE)

With the aim of promoting Eco-tourism by increased awareness in tourist and local neighborhood for protection and healthy being of elephant, a day with an elephant is all about dedicating life time efforts for achieving this aim.

Located in front of the Natinal Park, just above the river, here is one of the more beautiful spot of Sauraha, the perfect place to relax and experience yoga and going inwards. Iyengar yoga style as taught by sharat's Arora method. Morning and Sunset classes, 5 days or 3 days intensive courses available. Private class also available.
I did a 3 hour lesson with Maelle this morning. It's an amazing setting for a yoga class and Maelle is a very patient encouraging teacher. It was only my 2nd Iyengar yoga class so I opted for a 3 hour workshop and I'm glad I did. I was sorry when Maelle said the class was over! It flew. If I had another few days in Suaraha I would definitely return. Highly recommend

Very interesting place where you can find more about the Tharu community's history and culture. Daily objects, paintings and explanations are exhibited along with photos. This complete work gives a very rich knowledge about the Tharus. The museum is not only a place where things are showed, it is also a research center where researchers of the whole world come to give their contributions and learn more. It is thus involved in the life of the community and the preservation of its culture. 2 big assets : the persons who work at the museum are very friendly, and for those who want to dig the topic, articles are available :).
