Il Missouri offers western-style horseback riding in the Buonconvento area of central Tuscany, 25 km from Siena. We do short trails of one and a half hours, half a day and all day trekking with quiet, well-trained horses. We go in small groups with no more then five horses to guarantee a personalized approach. The guide is multilingual (italiano, English, Nederlands, Francais, Deutsch).
We booked the 3 hour ride and really enjoyed it. With no real experience (and the little we had not being all good) we had no worries at all. Karol is a great host and sized us up with the best horses for our experience. I got a half appaloosa called Spartacus, who was lovely. The ride takes in lots of varied Tuscan scenery, from the Strada bianchi to cypress lined lanes and everything you think Tuscany might have in between. You get a helmet and water to take with you, which is useful in the heat. Despite having a very mixed ability group, everyone got what they wanted- the more experienced got to go fast and the less experienced walked with a bit of trotting. This isn't just a pony ride- there's lots of ups and downs- around 700 metres apparently, and full size horses to suit everyone. At the end of the ride Karol takes you to the restaurant at the agriturismo next to the stable for a beer/ soft drink and a snack. So thoroughly recommended way to spend half a day!

These natural springs are relaxing and beautiful. Even in moid-October, they were plenty warm and so enjoyable. As others have said, you have to walk a bit, but it is well with it. Bring coins for metered parking and don't forget water shoes and a change of clothes for afterwards, as the white debris and odor will stick with you. Note that there is nowhere to change except for some not-so-nice bathrooms, so bring a second dry towel to sit on in the car and change later. Also, the gelato place in town was THE best we had in our whole two weeks in Italy! Bette than Rome's or Palermo's top-rated places. The torrone gelato was especially delicious.
