At our camp we’ve created a safe, natural and sustainable habitat for our elephants to live in and were established in order to create a haven for retired elephants formally working in building yards, entertainment shows and throughout the tourist industry, which has drastically altered their function in Thai society. The Elephants At 9 Dee Phuket is currently home to five formerly mistreated elephants that are now free to enjoy their lives. The money we receive from visits, volunteers, merchandise and donations is primarily used for food, veterinary care, infrastructure and land, so that we may constantly be growing and expending the capacity of rescuing more elephants. Additionally, some of the money is also designated toward compensating the local owners of the elephants so that they allow us to care for them, instead of making them work.
