Smack in the center of Romania is Brasov, a harmonious mash-up of traditional charm and modern city life. Ride a double-decker bus around the city to get your bearings and see the sites whiz by, then hop off to squeeze down Strada Sforii, the narrowest street in Europe. Take a day trip to see the fortified church of Prejmer, the Libearty brown bear sanctuary, and the deliciously ominous Bran Castle, otherwise known as Dracula’s Castle.

The museum is practically a time-machine that will enable you to experience, first-hand, the living conditions of a normal working class family in communist times. Therefore in order to be able to understand what it meant to live in a communist country we encourage you to book an over-night stay.
Surreal, accurate snapshot of our childhood homes. Every detail, piece of furniture, magazine, carpet or bibelou trigger powerful memories. For everyone else a powerful inaight into how life was lived indoors in communism. Well worth a detour from central Brasov.

The museum has a wide gallery where it hosts interesting temporary exhibition that incorporate an outlook of modern times through technology or contemporary subjects. For example, Celest - an exhibition that is on until July 13th 2017, that is about the exploration of space. Interesting for anybody who likes to play, regardless of age.

From backstrap looms to a functioning Jacquard loom, this treasure of a museum covers the entire extraordinary history of the textile arts in Brasov. You will see a two-harness floor loom, tape and rigid heddle looms, the full range of spindle evolution from simple drop spindles through to the spinning wheel, and a detailed exploration of the iconography and symbolism in local national dress. Embroidery arts on sheepskin are also covered in fantastic detail. Heaven for textile artists and all who love Romania's rich ethnographic history as viewed through the lens of fabric and embellishment.
