It’s true: parts of Belize are getting touristy. But San Ignacio remains rustic, making it a great base for budget-friendly tropical adventure travel. Canoe on the Macal River, or walk to Mayan ruins at Cahal Pec (just be warned: it's uphill).

Chai Garden Ashram serves local organic vegan fare in a bright outdoor kitchen, with a teahouse flare. We brew our own Kombucha, and have a big pot of Jungle Chai steaming hot all day featuring local herbs from the ashram grounds. Waterfall view from your dining table! We do family style lunches and dinners and enjoy the diversity of each others company. Give us a call so we know you're coming!
It was an amazing experience staying with Laine and Evin. My family enjoyed every bit of time spent at the Ashram. We learnt a lot about yoga, vegan food, Kombucha, Gongs, and herbs. We really loved the openness of the Yoga floor under the palapa. Doing yoga in the morning surrounded by bird sounds was quiet an experience. This prompted me to continue my yoga. And thanks to Laine I have started doing Yoga regularly. Our thanks to Evin for the wonderful and delicious Vegan food, and introducing me to his wonderful Kombuchas. We had a short stay there, but both Laine and Evin felt like friends. We shared our spiritual experiences over cups of Kombuchas. Definitely recommend to everyone who is looking for a serene experience!
