Black Squirrels on Parade gives visitors the opportunity to get up close and personal with Marysville’s official mascot! Thirty-four 5-foot fiberglass black squirrels are displayed throughout town, designed and painted by local and regional artists. Grab a map at the Visitors Center or area gas stations and go find each squirrel to learn more about the inspiration behind our furry friends!

Okay, we got a kick out of the sign entering Marysville: "Black Squirrel Capital." Turns out there is a story or legend behind this. Anyway, I took one night-time photo of one of a couple dozen sculpture of black squirrel that are located in sundry places around Marysville. Did I go looking for all of them? No. But the idea was such a goofy one (someone had to be laughing about this), and these sculptures are by local and invited artists - I think it would be a fun project to go find them all. Might even do it myself next time through. Kids might have more fun with this, and it would be better for them than staring at another cell phone game, right? To the squirrels!
