5 Other Outdoor Activities in Lagos That You Shouldn't Miss

April 5, 2022 Kelli Reichel

There is rich and beautiful history within Lagos’ 14th century walls, from its fortress to picturesque churches like Medieval São João Hermitage and the 17th-century São Sebastião. But that’s all appetizer. People come here for a main-course coastal buffet featuring more than a half-dozen beautiful beaches. Quiet sandy coves are sandwiched between dramatic cliffs. The sandy 2.5-mile stretch of Meia Praia caters to every water sport imaginable. And when you’ve had your fill, you can digest your day with some of the best nightlife in the Algarve region.

Praia do Pinhao

The Pinhão beach is for me certainly the best beach in Lagos. Smaller than Dona Ana beach but wider than Camilo beach, the Pinhão beach offers all you can dream of. It is not that crowded as Dona Ana or Camilo, but it is advisable to arrive early, especially on the weekend. Splendid cliffs all around, on the left, a small cave where you can go through or swimm through on high tide. There are also some caves on the right side of the beach. For fans of diving with sensation, also possible to climb on a smaller cliff and dive directly into the refreshing water. The best beach during my stay in Lagos.

This is a great place to go if you love crazy golf, well maintained course with the castle walls right next to you too. The holes were fun to play and you also had a little bit of help telling you the line to hit your shot. The staff was friendly and chatty and provided hand sanitiser to keep everything clean. Watch out for the frogs
