5 Nature & Wildlife Tours in Siena That You Shouldn't Miss

August 18, 2021 Veronika Gaddis

This Tuscan hill town will transport you back to the Middle Ages. Siena's grand cathedral, built in the 1200s, has treasured artworks and marvelous marble floors. The Piazza del Campo, the main town square, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's also home to the Palio, perhaps the most infamous horserace in the world. No goofy hats and mint juleps here—this is a medieval tradition involving bareback riders racing on cobblestones (so as you might imagine, it's quite dangerous). Siena is an easy daytrip by train from Florence, just 43 miles away.

Sara Testi, Tour Guide

I'm a licensed nature guide, a tour leader and a tourist guide in Siena, Tuscany. I arrange walking (or just visiting) itineraries for individuals, families or groups in all of Tuscany. According to your preferences, I can customize your itineraries, from classical visits to easy strolls or more challenging hikes, for just a few hours or for more days. I love my job, I do it with passion and conviction: the passion of those who prefer to build human relations, to interact with others, to increase and share their knowledge continuously; the conviction of those who love their country and are convinced that the others could be part of their life. I live in a spectacular city: Siena and its Province are rich in nature, culture, history, good food, beauty. This positive aspects must be shared with the others: this is the only thing which gives meaning to my work!
