Lupine Meadows Trailhead

This is the main trailhead for going up Garnet Canyon and climbing the Grand Teton, Teewinot and most of the core Teton mountains. There are also formerly little-known spots that have boomed in popularity due to the internet so that if you don’t get here early you may not find a parking place. The amazing thing about the Tetons is that they lack foothills. If you park here and start up Teewinot you leave the valley floor in just a few hundred metres and you’re on the mountain all the way to the top if you know the way. To go up Garnet Canyon takes a little more time but once you’re climbing the views get better and better.

The scenery from any of these turnouts is absolutely stunning. This is one of the most beautiful mountain ranges I have ever seen. The river in the foreground is a beauty also.

Glacier View Turnout

Reviewed By Rura_Penthe924 - Idaho Falls, United States

The best view of the Tetons in the area as it has a perfect angle of the mountain range. Lots of parking. There is a small overlook area at the end of a paved walkway with a rock that people like to take photos at. If you don’t want a picture right there you can walk to either side of that to get a picture perfect view.

Blacktail Ponds Overlook

This is a must stop! We came across from seeing the Mormon Row Barns and it was fabulous! Was almost rear-ended by an idiot driver as we were stopped waiting to turn so keep your eyes peeled in front and behind you...I had to move forward to avoid being hit. Just outstanding views and colors! Saw 4 cow elk, 1 bull elk, 1 cow and calf moose, a single cow moose, a bull moose, and different species of birds. There was a group of about 15 photographers led by a professional photographer and then at least another 15-20, including myself, who were taking photos. The Jackson Tetons area is far superior to Yellowstone for scenery hands down! I would highly recommend at least a 2-day stay in the area.
