Today I was walking around the Essendon and Pascoe Vale South area, where the wild parts of the river were left alone when much of the creek became an open drain to make the freeway easier to build. Garden plantings were in bloom and the path seemed well built and well maintained.

We started off in Puckle Street, Moonee Ponds and walked down through Maribyrnong Park. We took the pedestrian bridge over the Maribyrnong River, watching out for the cyclists. We took a gravel path up the hill and arrived at the front of HIghpoint Shopping Centre, the heart of the West. We then walked over to Bunnings, to buy some harfware. We decided against retracing our steps to Puckle Street, as the walk had taken over two hours, so we took the 82 Tram to Moonee :Ponds Junction., The trip back took us around 20 minutes all up. We had a nice walk and saw some interesting sights.

Aberfeldie Park is is in the Essendon area. It hosts Australian Rules Football (AFL) and cricket, both male and female. The Park has clubrooms for football and cricket. The Park has a good playground for younger children. It's also popular with dog walkers. Other park users would appreciate it if you picked up doggie droppings. The senior football often draws a large crowd

Fanny Street Reserve is a great place for kids of all ages. And it has tables and benches, meaning it's a great place for a family day out. The park has a nautical theme, with an inclusive range of equipment, including a timber boat. There is a large boat rocker, and some smaller rockers. It's a friendly place for youngsters learning to to ride. For more mature riders, there's a BMX dirt track.
