In Vienna, the coffee house isn’t just a hangout: it’s an institution. Lingering over a newspaper with a pastry and a strong espresso drink is, according to UNESCO, officially a Viennese cultural pastime. Walk off your slice of Sachertorte with a self-guided tour of the city’s stunning traditional, Secessionist, and modern architecture, such as the Imperial Palace, the State Opera House, the Kirche am Steinhof, or the Kunsthistorisches Museum, an exercise in ornate geometry.

Vienna's landmark amusement park features the familiar 65-meter-high Giant Ferris Wheel that towers over the park's 200 booths, ghost train, go-karts, merry-go-rounds plus a Plantarium and the famous Schweizerhaus and many other great restaurants.
The Wurstelprater park is famous for its history as the oldest amusement park in the world. Also its one of the smallest but careful thought has gone into blending everything together so well that the rides are within meters of each other. A perennial favourite for kids and grownups, best enjoyed at evening, we spent many euros worth of thrills there, ending with the prater turm and the classic giant ferris wheel.

Now it's a nice park, with two large, monolithic towers from WWIII looming above. There are plenty of paths (nicely shaded) around the park: great for a walk or run. You can't go in the towers, but they are something to look at from below!
