Te Mata Park is a must-visit if you are spending time in Hawke's Bay. It's rich in Maori cultural tradition and history. Well-signposted walks and mountain-bike tracks, coupled with magnificent views to all corners of the compass.

Great walk with kids..theh can paddle along in the shallow stream, look for painted rocks, run ahead without fear then maybe enjoy a picnic before returning via a the second track. Both tracks through beautiful trees carefully nurtured by a few dedicated locals, very peacful place to be. Dog owners love the walkway as well.

This place is easy to get to off the Waimarama Rd turnoff before Ocean Beach if headed to the beach. 2 minute drive off the main road. There are three parking areas and three tracks to the falls. The middle track by the portaloo is the easiest grade and can be walked in jandals. Easy to get into the waterfall pool and swim around. The rope swing is safe for jumping into the water. You can also get to the top of the falls.
