There r so many approaches to the lake .. it's breathtaking early in the morning or wgen dusk falls ... The concept for the lake was mooted in the early 1890s .. to create a lake close to Daylesfordand near the mineral springs .. but the Lake Daylesford was only built in 1929 & officially opened in 1930 w a lot of fanfare and excitement .. Lake Daylesford has become a main attraction for all visitors & popular w locals ... It is a haven for the local bird life, a place for everyone of all ages to relax, enjoy a picnic, take a scenic walk & enjoy the glorious views tt surrounds it .. :)) .. It was a good climb, up down to the lake ..

After rain, this is a beautiful waterfall, well worth a drive out from Melbourne. If there’s enough water the fall will split into two creating a double waterfall with long cascades. Even when it hasn’t been raining, the valley down below the waterfall provides a lovely walk along the river through tree ferns and moss covered rocks leading to a mineral spring... it is really a little oasis. The walk down to the valley is on high quality, newly constructed steps, however anyone can see the waterfall from just a few metres from the carpark which is easily accessible to all abilities including wheelchairs etc. It is my favorite waterfall in the area and I love the beautiful walk too . If you’re up to it you can walk all the way to Daylesford Lake from here. Do be sure to time your trip to within a day or two after a good rain to see the falls at their best (my kids and I just grab our boots and raincoats but if you wait a day or two you might be a bit drier,)
