I had to decide between a half day adventure to Ao Tha Lane and Bor Thor. The tours from Ao Nang/Krabi tell you the half day trip to Ao Tha Lane has no lunch but is a 30 min drive whilst the trip to Bor Thor has lunch. I was advised that Ao Tha Lane is more about kayaking down mangrove river whilst Bor Thor is about kayaking and visiting caves. We took Bor Thor, it had lunch and the longer ride in the car was worth it. The trip went from 8:30am pickup at Ao Nang arriving at 9.30am to arrival at hotel at 3pm, departing Bor Thor at 2pm. 3 hours of adventure enough with your kids aged 10 and 8. We paid 900 Baht per adult and 700 Baht for the children. This covered all costs including transport, entrance to the park caves, lunch and kayaking with the guide. It’s a bargain. Some other tours offered are more expensive. So best to go with the Krabi Nature Group as the other one on offer in Ao Nang from the Chang Group is more expensive. The guides are not opportunistic either to ask for tips. 1 hour from Krabi in a van, we had a small group of 6 adults and 2 children. That was very nice and not crammed and overloaded as some other reviews advise. This adventure is suitable to kids 8 up or possibly younger kids can just sit in the kayak so long as they can take instructions. The first cave (Bor Thor sea canal Klong Pring) is reached by after 15-20 mins paddling and you drift through a cave opening to see the stalactites. Moving on from here to the Phi Hua To (in google) and Pee Hua Too (on the signboard). It has rock paintings from a previous generation. You have about 20 mins free time and time to explore the mangrove boardwalk outside. After this is a visit to a lagoon that can only be seen at low tide. At low tide you can drift through under a rock structure where you need to duck to get in. (Lod Tai cave) The guide checks to make sure that you are ok if you are a slower paddler but he won’t baby sit you which is just fine. So if you get scared by being alone in a river, better let them know in advance. This is a great way to spend a day but not a full day getting you back to the hotel to freshen up for night market action in Krabi. There’s a number of inconsistent reviews when it comes here so the key is to get the right tour group and ask for Krabi Nature Group. Yes you are in the sun so get your SPF 50+ and other shirts. You don't need to wear swimming gear unless you plan to fall into the water. Your bums get a little wet so just some clothing to dry out quickly. Lastly, there are toilets at the start of the journey and a restaurant called Riverside. There's another restaurant called the Bor Thor restaurant nearby and a couple of other shops nearby at the Pier. Do it again and maybe a full day tour.

Well worth a visit - beautiful nature with a lighthouse, two beaches (one sandy paradise beach and one rocky beach) and a nature trail. It was very windy when we visited so we didn't spend any time on the beach, but walked the forest trail. It took just over an hour, int the company of 2 children aged 7 & 9 and a grandmother aged 74. The trail is actually quite steep with a lot of steps, so bring plenty of water as it'll be a sweaty hike. There are some information posts along the trail about some of the trees and plants you pass.

We stayed at the lovely Centara private resort and walked the monkey trail to Ao Nang beach daily....as much for the sites as a nice cardio. There are days with no monkeys, so don’t be disappointed! As well, be careful especially if it rains. This is NOT for folks who are not comfortable with fairly steep steps, made of wood with mostly bamboo rails. However, it is a fantastic trail, nice views and short...so go for it! Lovely area, felt totally safe and enjoyed it every time...
