We are open! Every day from 9am! The Edwin Fox is a great example of NZ Maritime History, 161 years old this year and currently listed as the 9th oldest ship in the world, the oldest surviving merchant ship, last surviving convict ship that took convicts to Australia and last wooden NZ immigrant ship and was also used to transport troops to the Crimean war.Come step aboard, go into the hull of the ship and visit the dry dock to get a real feel of the size of the ship and indeed what voyages would of been like!Open everyday group bookings and guided tours by arrangement.
This was a last minute decision to do as we just got off our cruise ship to walk around Picton and found this marvellous museum. Extremely interesting and informative and loved walking around the actual ship to see and touch the original wood and imagine what life would have been like. For $15 it’s definitely worth a short visit.

Lochmara Lodge Arts Centre is a unique facility where artists from around New Zealand create and showcase artwork in a variety of mediums. The centre comprises two indoor galleries, an 11-acre sculpture trail amidst native bush, an artists-in-residence studio, and regular workshops. Day trips include a boat cruise from Picton on the stunning Queen Charlotte Sound, and an optional walk on the Queen Charlotte Track. Wildlife Recovery Centre, cafe, and accommodation also on site.
Beautiful establishment in peaceful surroundings only a 20 minute boat ride from Picton. Once there you can swim, walk, kayak, feed visiting stingrays and eels and explore the underwater marine observatory. Whether just visiting for the day or staying in the lovely accommodation you will get a warm welcome from everyone on the team. The food is excellent and the pamper session in the Bath house luxurious.

This aquarium is so cool the pufferfish is amazing. I thought I was in a coral reef. There was a giant squid in a container dead because they did experiments on it. We went on a tour - we got to pat heaps of animals and sea life and we learnt heaps.
