We visited the Scottish National War Museum in March, just before lockdown. The museum is situated within Edinburgh Castle so entry is included in the Castle admission ticket price. It is an interesting and well laid out museum and chronicles Scottish military history with informative displays including flags, medals, uniforms, field guns and weapons throughout military history. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Museum

The Museum represents the history of The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers and Greys). Housed inside the 1790's constructed New Barracks within Edinburgh Castle, the museum tells the story of the history and traditions of the SCOTS DG including its three antecedent regiments dating back over 300 years. The antecedent regiments of the SCOTS DG are the 3rd Dragoon Guards (Prince of Wales's Own), the 6th Dragoon Guards (The Carabiniers), the 3rd Carabiniers (Prince of Wales's Dragoon Guards), The Royal Scots Greys (2nd Dragoons), and the 25th Dragoons.

Wonderful museum located in Ediburgh Castle grounds. So much history! Price included with the price of admission or if you plan on traveling around Scotland (once lockdown is over) do yourself a favor& buy a Historic Scotland 1 year membership. We were traveling from USA & even though we weren't going to be going back again in the year's time frame, it was still a bargain to see so many wonderful sites& we could get in free!
