The memorial home of Croatian war veterans was built on the site of the former post office. In 1991 the command headquarters of the neighborhood were located here. The building was formed in the shape of a clenched fist that symbolizes strength with which Vukovar defended against aggression.

This is a unique military and war history museum in Croatia featuring a range of different uniforms, equipment, weapons, helmets, a library and other valuable items dating back from the Roman times to the present day. We are proud to be the first military museum to showcase the uniform of Croatian President Mrs. Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic.

This museum dedicated to the siege of Dubrovnik during the 'Homeland War' is a very sobering affair, with the ITN news reports and testimonials a major part of the museum. The Croatian POV isn't subtle and some of the English text comes across as a bit too pro-Croatian compared to most museums I've went too. This period is still pretty raw of course and perhaps over time, perspectives from the other side could appear.

The city of Karlovac and its defenders endured fierce attacks in the Homeland War and played a key role in the defence of the Croatian territory, as well as in the creation of the independent Republic of Croatia. Karlovac, a fortress city in the shape of a star, has always been an indispensable part of the European and Croatian history. This unique museum tells the story of the fearlessness of Croatian defenders and the invincibility of the city on four rivers. The permanent interactive museum exhibition containing 350 original artefacts and more than 3 hours of multimedia content through which visitors can discover contemporary Croatian history. The exhibition also presents 23 exhibits featuring large-scale combat technology, with an emphasis on the ones manufactured domestically. The museum also has a Memorial Room of the Fallen Karlovac Defenders from the Homeland War, a multi-purpose hall, library and a souvenir shop.
An excellent assemblage of materials and objects that facilitate understandings of both the broader elements of 1991-95 war in Croatia as well as specific insights into how the war was fought in the strategic town of Karlovac. Friendly staff and English-language audio guides available.
