Duncanby Fishing Lodge, one of the most respected salmon and halibut sportsfishing destinations in BC, is now ranked as one of best in Canada.Located in Rivers Inlet, (GPS 51°24'16.63"N 127°38'43.69"W), on British Columbia’s breathtaking central coast, our guests come from all over Canada, the United States, and even Europe to experience the Duncanby difference.
This was my 2nd trip to Duncanby and it was another truly special retreat. Sid and Lee welcome you home each time you arrive, and their staff remember your name and preferences like you had been going there 10 years straight. To cap it off, Rick Hansen made his annual appearance and with just a few words, left me in awe. This place makes memories, it is a privilege to visit and I hope to return again soon!

Carved into the rugged coastline of British Columbia 250 nautical miles north of Vancouver, Legacy Lodge sits within the Great Bear Rainforest in the protected waters of Pendleton Bay at the mouth of the famed Rivers Inlet. Legacy Lodge is more than world class fishing; it's about friends sharing the adventure of exploring North America's last wilderness, experiencing humpback and killer whales, dolphins, eagles and a night sky full of stars so bright they'll keep you awake! Legacy Lodge was hand crafted on large floats from indigenous materials. The two story guest building includes 7 private guest rooms and 6 suites which nicely accommodates 20 guests. Legacy recently expanded with two additional guest buildings offering five additional suites, accommodating 10 guests. Guests enjoy spectacular views and deluxe accommodations with private baths and rooms appointed with luxurious linens. The lounge features a rustic bar with a fireplace seating and dining for 30 guests. Legacy Lodge provides three distinct seasons of fishing. Traditional salmon fishing for Chinook and Coho salmon are available from July through September in calm, secluded waters throughout Rivers Inlet. Halibut, Yellow Eye and Lingcod are also plentiful in these waters all summer. Heli-fishing for huge northern Coho salmon (20 lbs. plus) within the pristine rivers of the BC coastline is available during September and October, and wild Steelhead fishing from helicopters are available during April and May. Legacy Lodge offers exceptional fly fishing for Pacific salmon on the calm, protected waters of Rivers Inlet. The dense populations of Coho and Chinook in the waters surrounding Legacy Lodge are aggressive, and will take your fly..... and 200 feet of backing off your reel in seconds! Known around the globe for its magnificent scenery and unparalled salmon fishing, the waters of Rivers Inlet teem with some of the largest Coho and Chinook Salmon in the world. In fact, more 50 to 60 pound Chinook salmon are caught in this fjord-like inlet each year than in any other area in British Columbia. Full of energy and fight, these salmon can battle for hours, over incredible distances. Rivers Inlet lies within the Great Bear Rainforest, the planets last large expanses of coastal temperate rainforest. At 8+ million acres, it is 5 times the size of Banff National Park and represents one of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet. With an unmatched biological output of 500 tons per acre, it's 40 percent greater than tropical rain forests.
Great lodge and an amazing fishing experience. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Room was comfortable, lodge supplied clothing for fishing was comfortable and they had an adequate supply of sizes? Our fishing guide Matt was very knowledgeable, helpful, successful in finding fish and seemed to enjoy the experience as much as we did‼️

The Rivers Inlet Sportsman’s Club is an all-inclusive, fly-in fishing lodge. We offer world-class trophy salmon & halibut fishing. Access to our fishing lodge is a direct 90 min flight by seaplane only, no roads = no crowds. We are located on the pristine, rugged & remote central British Columbia coast 300 miles north of Vancouver. Snow-capped mountains reach down to the sea & the scenery & wildlife viewing is spectacular. The Kelly family has been showing guests fabulous fishing adventures for over 35 years so we are quite simply the best. Friendly service, great food & accommodations - one guest said 'we tried the rest & came back to the best!'
I have been to RISC twice and if at all possible would really like to go again. Health issues at my age are somewhat problematic and finding another angler to travel with is getting harder every year. If you have been there before?? you know exactly what I'm talking about, if not? this lodge is absolutely the best,, bar none that I have been to. Simon, Kathy and their wonderful crew treat you like royalty and the food is over the top. The rooms are comfy and the hot water bottles add a nice touch. All of my photos are in books now and I have no way to post them but use your imagination as I am holding up several Chinook/ silver salmon and a halibut that was close to 50#.. can't remember the exact weight but it made me crowned king for the evening. :-)

What this place is all about: Premium Fishing Resort First of all, let me be upfront and tell you that I first arrived in Rivers Inlet in 2009 as a guest of the now defunct Big Spring resort and then in 2010 we came to Rivers Lodge. Having heard about THE WALL and SMILEY BAY and the famous run of Chinook/King Salmon (83.3# caught in 2012) that the inlet is famous for, I was pretty excited to get here to FISH! I didn't come to see all the eagles, seals or sea lions. I didn't come for the abundance of whales or beautiful scenery (Rivers Lodge is in the middle of the world's only Temperate Rain Forest) or the fancy meals and the wonderfully fresh air. I came for the FISH and the fishing was great! Monstrous Chinook (my best so far is 42#) & Northern Coho/Silvers (my best so far is 21#) mostly caught right near the surface with simple slip weights and cut plug herring and BEST OF ALL: ocean fishing in lake like conditions. My group of 4 are experienced fishermen who don't want/need guides and who love the whole idea of this place. Lots of coves and inlets, islands and bays, kelp beds and points where you can test your knowledge as a fisherman and find all kinds of trophies from Salmon to Lingcod & Rockfish to magnificent Halibut (my best is 125#). The custom made boats are excellent 17 ft. Fibreglass fishing machines with 50 hp Yamaha outboards with comfortable seats and benches and a half top canopy which is great when you need to get out of the sun, wind or rain. Mooching rods and single action reels are provided and heavier gear is available for bottom fishing. The lodge provides all weather rain suits and boots for those that need them and all your fish is cleaned, vacuum packed, blast frozen and packed in Styrofoam waxed boxes for your trip home. Upon returning from fishing in and around the inlet, you find yourself in a beautiful quiet little bay (known locally as Sleepy Bay) and then you come around to a secret little cove where the Lodge is safely tucked away (all within minutes of the prime fishing grounds). The main lodge provides a comfortable place to get a great meal, have a drink and share a story or two with the other guests before retiring to your own room for 2 with comfortable single beds, private bathroom and shower. After a day on the water and all that fresh mountain & ocean air, sleep comes easily! At the end of 2011, the Ardley family who built this legacy decided it was time to retire and the future of this treasure was in jeopardy. So in 2012, my 3 fishing pals & I decided to make it our own! After 5 years, investing lots of time and money, upgrading equipment and beautifying we are proud to continue providing new guests with the same experience of joy and wonder that enamored us to this magical place. I hope you get a chance to experience the magic for yourselves one day!
I went to Rivers Lodge in 2002 for the first time, than I could not stop going there, always with a group of costarrican and german fisher friends and in a couple of weeks I'll be there for the 10th time (in 16 years). This is one of the most amazing places I have ever been considering the nature that surrounds you and the fishing of salmon and halibut. The lodge is still the perfect place to rely on with their great service & stuff, fishing equipment and administration. Looking forward to be there in a couple of weeks !

Save your money it’s a cash cow and run down. Very old, mildewy, and mice infested. Extensive renovations are needed. Owner has lost touch with reality. I can think of nothing good about this place except the scenery so save your money put it anywhere else “you’ll be thankful you read this review”.
