Not sure why this place has such mixed reviews. It is fine. At least, room 220 was. Clean, comfortable, all the basics, including fridge, coffee maker, safe, toiletries, enough towels, pillows, etc. Bed maybe a tad lumpy, but comfortable enough. A/C fine. Towels not plush, but hardly threadbare. Pool was clean AND contrary to one review here, there *is* a hot tub. It's very hot, more a bubbler than massaging jets, but still very nice. There's a fitness room I didn't use. Typical hotel breakfast with juice, yogurt, fruit, various breads/cereal, mini-waffles, hard boiled eggs, etc... perfectly adequate. As to price, the few "decent" properties in this area are all overpriced - either due to the university or proximity to nearby vacation areas...?? Evening and overnight staff very nice, woman at desk in the morn less than pleasant and definitely not friendly, but she answered my few questions sufficiently. Two things: sink is outside the shower/commode area. Fine for me as a single, but might be an issue for couples or families. Also, noticed on first floor one of the rooms had a broken window... Saw and experienced no other issues. That said, I ask for what I want - in this case, an upstairs room, and okay to hot tub before the posted 9am opening time - both were accommodated without issue. I will always ask and give people an opportunity to say yes; otherwise, I figure I've no right to complain. :) Upshot is there's no reason to avoid this property, it's just fine.

2 Story interior corridor property. Short drive to University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. FREE parking and wi-fi. FREE guest breakfast. Gas and diesel nearby. Restaurants and lounges nearby. Randy's Supper Club (banquets) across street. Short drive to Young Auditorium and Kettle Moraine bike trail. FEMA = Wi - 0054.
Beds were like sleeping on concrete. Our room reeked of smoke. The tub floor was slimy. There was dried food on the floor, looks like it had been there for days. The staff was unattentive. The outside of the hotel was absolutely run down. NEVER NEVER again.

Warm up to our expanded hot breakfast menu. Omelets, bacon and mini waffles have joined our long list of morning favorites including fresh fruit, Chobani® Greek yogurt and sweet breads. It's just what you need for a delicious start to your day.
I stayed at the relatively new Fairfield Inn Whitewater for 2 different 3-night stays within the last month or so, and both stays occurred on a Wednesday, Thursday & Friday evening (checked out Saturday AM both times). I work in Whitewater, and decided to stay here 2 different times during some construction that was being done on my residence, for some peace and quiet. This is the newest hotel in Whitewater, where lodging is somewhat lacking for a college town, and I enjoyed my stay both times. I had a standard room with king bed during both stays, and I was on the 3rd (top) floor both times, once on each side of the hotel. I found both stays to be very quiet, and even with being on Main Street, it is quiet with how the hotel was built "on its side" (it goes back from the street). Both rooms were relatively clean, and the beds were very comfortable! They could do a slightly better job vacuuming, and I noticed strange orange rust stains in the bathrooms of both rooms I have stayed in, which is odd for the hotel being so new. I have not had a chance to use many of the amenities here since I was busy with work during both stays (so it was highly "business" when I was staying), but a small pool (no hot tub) and fitness center is available. The daily breakfast is small but adequate, and they have some unusual but tasty offerings, such as 3-cheese jalapeno souffle, mini quiche bites, and various scones/biscuits. The coffee in the mornings is always fresh and bold! Overall, this is a nice place to stay, and this is probably the best choice in Whitewater! I enjoy using the Mobile Key feature on my phone to go directly to my room, but it seems to always check me out on Saturday AM before I am completely ready to leave, and I need to get a regular key card from the desk. I would recommend this hotel to others, and I will return for any future needs in Whitewater.

My brother and his wife treated me to a weekend at the Hamilton Inn. (They had stayed there a year ago and raved about it - for good reason!) This gorgeous 1861 mansion is exquisite, perfect down to the last detail. The multi-course breakfasts, created by innkeeper (and Culinary Institute-trained chef) Gloria, were off-the-charts delicious and kept my belly full til dinnertime, even after a day spent hiking the gorgeous Kettle Moraine. I slept deeply on the luxurious comfy bed, but I'd eat saltine crackers and sleep on a cot to hear Gloria's stories! Gloria has a talent for being present but never intrusive. She'll give you a house tour with fascinating tidbits (from John Belushi to the Underground Railroad!) but ask about her journey from Woodstock NY to Whitewater WI for a rollicking story with a happy ending!
